Freestyler Camill - Frontend, Backend, Kickend

Karriere

It's all in the head. Camill is the math ace in the anders und sehr crew. The full-stack developer not only demonstrates his brains when coding tricky front- and back-end challenges, but also in his private passion - freestyle soccer. During the European Championship 2024, Camill is taking an unusual sabbatical for his big performance at several European Championship venues.

It's the pitch that counts: from ADV rookie to AUS pro

"Grau is alle Theorie – entscheidend is auf'm Platz!" This quote from soccer legend Alfred Preißler could also be Camill's motto. He had already mastered theory at school when he won the kangaroo competition and took the horror out of tricky logic puzzles. Gaining and imparting knowledge - to turn this vocation into a profession, Camill studied for 3 semesters to become a primary school teacher. And discovered his true passion in the process: programming. Because training makes perfect, Camill acquired the tools for systematic coding at the ADV - with distinction. It was through his fellow student Marcel that he first came into contact with different and very. However, he started his “professional career” as a backend developer at the software company BTB.

Turning a hobby into a profession - best of all worlds.

To describe Camill as soccer mad would be an understatement. His enthusiasm for freestyle soccer grew at the MTV Stuttgart club. As an “influencer of the first hour”, he shared videos of his tricks in forums. YouTube, Facebook and Instagram soon followed. His work as a content creator made him want to switch from back-end to front-end development. Time for a team change to anders und sehr, where Camill quickly became a regular in our backend team. As a budding frontend developer still on the bench, he soon learned the tricks of the trade for the “premier league” from Johannes - our FE lead.  Thanks to the mentoring of backend specialist Matze, Camill quickly grew into a team member who is a good fit in all positions. So high marks for the “junior work” at anders und sehr.

Sabbatical for the big European Championship appearance

Is the game over? Quite the opposite! During the European Football Championship in Germany, Camill is taking time out from everything else to be in the spotlight at the European Championship venues. Event organizers have long since become aware of his successful Insta account with almost 10,000 followers and have booked him during the summer fairy tale 2024 (unfortunately a dream come true for our team). Whether in Munich, Frankfurt, Dortmund or Stuttgart - Camill will make his big appearance as a freestyler at the venues of the European Championships. There he meets an enthusiastic audience, which he encourages to kick along. A “lifelong dream” for Camill, which we more than grant him.

Camill paid a visit to his team for the photo shoot at the agency. They have his back and follow his activities on social media. We are already looking forward to seeing Camill back “on the pitch” after the European Championships.

    Transfer? Not a chance!

Despite his success at work and in freestyle soccer, Camill has no thoughts of transferring. A strong team and project managers Georg and Johannes, who always have Camill's back, make sure of that. And when things get stressful at work? Then the team sticks together - even when deadlines and tasks pose a major challenge. Camill prefers these to the day-to-day work of a developer in service and support anyway. Building projects “from scratch” is much more his thing. For example, when he develops a Pimcore-based download center for our customer Schleuniger.

Alongside his work as a developer and his hobby as a soccer freestyler, Camill often has very little time. He prefers to spend it with his girlfriend, whom he met while studying at ADV. Or you can meet him with his team at a games evening. All that remains to be said is: Camill is always playing!
